Bob McKinley, age 91, died outside Saginaw, Michigan on June 14, 2017. Bob was born in Bay City, the son of Frank and Amelia (Webster) McKinley. He graduated in 1944 from Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts before heading to Princeton University in 1950. He joined the Nassoons his freshman year as a Bass. After school, he served in the US Army during World War II in France and Germany. He spent summers his entire life at Point Lookout, Au Gres, MI, where he enjoyed tennis, golf, and spending time with his many friends. He belonged to the First Presbyterian Church in Bay City, where he sang in the choir for over 50 years and served for many years as a deacon. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Marian (Clift) McKinley, daughters Helen Cady of Bay City, Amy McKinley of Ann Arbor, and son Tom McKinley of San Francisco, CA., and multiple grand and great-grand children.
Bob shared some words about a musical mishap from his days in the group in our 75th reunion book: "Our most difficult experience occurred in spring 1950, when Lester Lanin [famous jazz bandleader] tried to record a number called ‘Charleston’ with an all-star jazz group and us in a New York recording studio. Nothing worked. Lester was out quite a bit of dough, as everything was organized by him."
